I booked with Clarendon animal care and arrived 3 minutes late due to traffic and they would not even let me in the door (I told them my dog was having trouble breathing – didn’t seem to matter to them). I went to another vet in desperation, they were kind but indicated the doctor was with another patient and it was the end of their day and THEY recommended me to Urgent Animal Care.So other vets recommend this place lol.Saw Dr Abajo and Eli. They were gentle with my dog and straightforward and good with me as well. They listened carefully to my intake answers, and recommended things for her to help with diagnosis. They *correctly* diagnosed her with aspiration pnuemonia, showed me the x rays and why they came to that conclusion. Ruled out other potential issues, and then sent me home with fluids, anti-nausea meds, and antibiotics. When my dog took as described, she got better. They also provided all the documentation in a follow up. Excellent care. Were open and available when I needed them. Correctly diagnosed the issue without a lot of extra cost or procedures. Explained to me my options, the cost, and why at every stage. Gave me the right meds immediately. My dog got better. Things gradually got worse and she started peeing in other parts of my apartment. I decided to take her to this location when I came home one night and she seemed to be practically immobile. I was able to book an appointment for first thing the next morning, to my relief.The doctor and her assistant were extremely empathetic (I was literally sobbing during the entire visit) while also being professional, and they completed a thorough exam where they tested Penny’s reflexes. They suggested I make an appointment with a neurologist, which seemed kind of intense to me, but they assured me that I didn’t have to commit to anything too serious and I could just go in for a standard exam. I just got the sense that I could trust them, so I made the appointment for later in the week.Unfortunately, the neurologist was not able to give me good news. I was heartbroken, but I was relieved to finally have answers about Penny’s health. I decided to take her back to Urgent Animal Care of Arlington to be put down, because they had been so kind to me and were aware of her condition. I saw the same doctor and assistant, who were, once again, so incredibly kind and empathetic.I’d absolutely recommend this location for anyone who is in need of answers like I was. It’s been 8 months, and the large clot and debris are all gone from her heart, and the irreversible inflammation in her heart has reduced! The new diagnosis is 12-24 months.
